Yarn

Yarn takes us from the windswept hills of Iceland to the warm waters of the Caribbean, weaving together the stories these people share with us, their passion, struggles and view of the world. Olek (Agata Oleksiak), Polish but based in New York is prolific and frank and produces monumental and provocative crochet works in and beyond galleries all over the world. Tinna, a knitter and activist from Iceland is forthright, feminist and wedded to causes from Palestine to feminism. Tilde Bjorfors and the performers of the Cirkus Cirkor in Sweden have created the contemporary circus work Knitting Peace which has toured throughout the World. And finally the Japanese textile artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam, now based in Nova Scotia makes contemporary art sculptures out of yarn and today uses yarn to create expressive structures for play.
